The curriculum at Pleasant Valley Montessori School provides an atmosphere to enhance creativity and inner-growth. Instruction is based on the following four basic Montessori principles:
Practical Life exercises develop coordination of the senses, brain and muscles. Resources, like the dressing frames and pouring series, heighten children’s personal independence, concentration and sense of order. Younger children are drawn here and have a great time exploring many activities!
Sensorial area educates and refines the senses, assisting each student’s intellectual development. The pink tower and knobbed cylinders are popular tools in this process. Children love the sensory area and the interesting and stimulating exercises!
Language Studies utilize touch, sight and hearing to help students learn the sound of letters. When children recognize the sand-paper letters, reading begins, from touching, he/she writes. Older children learn cursive writing, grammar and creative story writing!
Math Lessons emphasize brightly colored number rods, just one of the materials designed to teach quantities and sequence as well as the written numeral. Older children progress to the decimal system, skip counting, charts, 100 board & math operations!

Pleasant Valley Montessori School provides generous work and play facilities complete with two classrooms and an indoor gym. A large fenced outdoor play yard includes a play strucure with tire swings, riding toys, mini play structures and lots of running space!
